Power is one of the key elements in the Infrastructure network of a country. Research has established the link between GDP and per capita power consumption. Less than 50% of India's population has access to power/ electricity. There are lot of opinion about how the sector should be managed and policies be formulated but according to me it is the need for accountability, the will to actually make a change happen at the ground level (rather than on paper, seminars and presentations) and putting the right and able person at the right place to execute the responsibilities with a level of empowerment. Irrespective of the amount of statistics that we churn out everything boils down to few parameters like available installed capacity, per capita power consumption, level of AT&C losses, realiability of the data and quality of power. |
